Who this is for

  • Hobbyists and competitors who train three or more times a week
  • Grapplers who also lift and want to move better on the mat
  • Anyone coming back from time off who feels stiff in the neck, hips or back

What I work on

Grappling loads the body in ways most sports don't. The areas I check on almost every grappler:

  • Neck and upper back: framing, posting, getting stacked and holding posture in closed guard
  • Forearms and grip: collar and sleeve grips, gable grips, wrist control
  • Shoulders and chest: underhooks, frames and kimura defense
  • Hips, hip flexors and glutes: guard retention, shrimping and hip escapes
  • Low back: bridging, stacking and long rounds on bottom

A session is usually therapeutic massage on the areas that are carrying the most load, plus assisted stretching for the hips, shoulders and neck. I am also an NASM Certified Personal Trainer and Stretching & Flexibility Coach, so I can give you a few simple mobility drills to keep things moving between sessions.

When to book

  • Best: a rest day, or the evening after an easy training day
  • Before a competition: lighter work 2–3 days out, nothing deep the day before
  • After a competition: a day or two later, once the adrenaline and soreness have settled

Questions

Can I book right after a hard roll? You can, but most people get more out of a session on a rest day. Shower first; I bring clean linens for every session.

I have a skin rash or a possible infection. Should I still come? Please reschedule. Ringworm, staph, impetigo and herpes gladiatorum spread easily through skin contact and linens. Rescheduling for illness or skin infections is free.

Can you work on a fresh injury? If you think something is torn, sprained or broken, see a doctor or physical therapist first. Once you are cleared, massage and stretching can be part of getting back on the mat. I don't diagnose injuries, and I'll tell you if something needs a medical opinion.

How often should I come? Many grapplers do well with one session every 2–4 weeks, and more often during a heavy competition block.

Do you work with teams or gyms? Yes. I can bring a massage chair to your academy for a recovery day. Book a 20-minute call →
